2020, the year that stopped everyone in their tracks and derailed all well made plans. Already two flights into her North American spring tour for the launch of her new Album “HomeBird”, Aoife Scot postponed all travel for the remainder of the year on returning home and set about evaluating life as a musician whilst adapting to these strange circumstances, and discovering new ways of getting things done. The album launch of her second album “HomeBird” at Temple Bar TradFest 2020 quickly gave Aoife acknowledgement as she was awarded the ASLR Celtic Music Awards Female Vocalist of the Year 2020, her album reached the iTunes No 1 - Ireland Album Charts and was Album of the Week - RTÉ Radio 1.

Born out of the downtime of a summer festival season cancelled and looking forward to a brighter future, a collaboration across the Atlantic with the producer of her last album Ron Block (Union Station), her new single ‘Sweet October’ is due out on Friday 23rd Oct.

Well used to life on the road, Aoife has taken her recent social distanced audience concerts and opened them up to the world through her exclusive high quality live stream productions bringing value back to the music and reaching her fans through live concert broadcasts. Further concerts are being planned into the remainder of 2020 and early 2021 and will be live streamed. All Aoife’s news and updates can be found on her website and social media.

About ‘Sweet October’

Reflective thoughts, reminiscent moments and perfect days spent with loved ones that even the rain, could not dampen. The beauty in the light, in the sunsets found in Sweet October Skies. Travel and touring the world has inspired the Liberties born vocalist and songwriter Aoife Scott, but her own country always produces the sweetest sentiment as on this her latest song offering. This song co-written with her partner, lyricist and guitarist Dubliner Andy Meaney has brought out the moments of just ‘being’, time precious gratitude that we sometimes miss in life but with these words Aoife delicately reminds us that these moments are there and to be treasured. This song comes from a conversation with friends and a shared love of the West coast of Ireland and those times spent with loved ones on life’s journey.

Recorded in her home town of Dublin, when driving across the city could find you at a checkpoint, “And your purpose of travel is?” Aoife and Andy set off with readiness to put forward their reasons, their duty, to write, their calling and purpose to lay down this track as it was as important to them as all the headlines and all the bad-news bulletins that filled the airwaves. The arts and the life of a touring musician may be on hold but the craft and creativity will find a way through and shine that light on how important music can be to us in preserving moments and giving us the spirit to live through it all.

2020 has shone a light on the important human aspect of connection as we find ourselves locked down and socially distanced, this song goes beyond the rules, the regulations and finds the true connection we seek in each other. Written and recorded during this time apart brings an even stronger emphasis on the theme of the song, with all international touring grounded for Aoife and her band, she found the space to pen this song and bring hope to this world we find ourselves living in.

About Aoife Scott

Born into the legendary Black Family, Aoife is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene, and has long enjoyed success as an established artist in her own right. Fragile and ethereal one minute and strong and vibrant the next, her dynamic and profound vocals explore the emotional depths of her lyrics, leaving the audience entranced. Aoife has a unique sound. Her music has a broad creative scope but is largely influenced by her own roots in folk and traditional Irish music.

Following her highly celebrated debut album, “Carry The Day”, which was triumphantly launched at Temple Bar Tradfest in 2016 to rapturous acclaim, Aoife Scott released her much anticipated second album “HomeBird” in January at the Button Factory at Temple Bar Trad Festival 2020. Produced by 12 time Grammy Award winner, banjo and guitar virtuoso Ron Block (Alison Krauss & Union Station, & ‘Oh Brother Where art thou), her second album is in many ways a turning point in her musical legacy. Recorded in Nashville and Dublin, “HomeBird” is an impressive collaboration featuring the best of Irish folk musicians and Grammy award winning Bluegrass musicians Sierra Hull, Stuart Duncan and producer Ron Block.

In 2019, her most recent song “The December Letter” won Single of the Year at the ALSR Celtic Music Awards (US) and was the most played Christmas song on RTE Radio 1 for December 2018. Her career successes have seen Aoife and her cousins, Róisín O & Danny O Reilly from The Coronas, release their single “Grace” which hit straight into the number 1 slot on iTunes in Ireland. This performance gained half a million views on youtube with their performance from Kilmainham Gaol as part of Centenary on RTE1.
